TAPE 3: THINKING AND THE SEARCH FOR PERSONAL TRUTH
Lynn: ...then we have the highest perception in listening...the
experience of the I in the other. Not just the soul qualities of the
other; not just the instincts, emotions, and biography of the other; not
what the other looks like as physical being; but that there is an I here
seeking its moment of truth, seeking its destiny. That's a tough task
for all of us.
Lynn: If we take on the responsibility of the listener we take it on
out of our I. "I am" and I will listen. I will put aside my thinking,
feeling and willing. I will put aside my biography. I will put aside
my biology...and I will attend to you. That's the I and that's the
sacrifice. It's a gift. It's how we find the truth in the other. The
truth of who I am cannot stand alone. Human beings can't stand alone.
We are social.
